This SOP will be applicable from October 20.
Taking a step towards resuming direct hearing in the courtroom, the Supreme Court on Thursday said that from October 20 on Wednesday and Thursday, all cases will be heard in the direct presence of lawyers and litigants. The court has been hearing cases through video-conference since March last year due to the pandemic and at times the bodies and lawyers have been demanding that the courtroom hearings resume immediately.
Actually, the cases of corona infection started increasing in the country from the month of March in the year 2020. Then the physical hearing in the Supreme Court also stopped during the nationwide lockdown. Now the corona cases have reduced a lot. Although still about 20 thousand cases are increasing daily. Corona active cases are also about two and a half lakhs. So far, a total of 3.34 crore people have been infected with the corona virus. Out of these, about 4.50 people have died due to infection.
