SrinagarKashmir Inspector General of Police (IG) Vijay Kumar said in a statement on Thursday that a total of 28 civilians were killed by terrorists in the Valley in 2021. He said the terrorist masters across the border are disappointed with the successful operations against them and the elimination of many terrorists in Kashmir. Due to which they have to change their strategy and target citizens of minority communities including women.
“In 2021, so far 28 civilians have been killed by terrorists. Out of 28, five persons belonged to the local Hindu/Sikh community, while 2 were non-local Hindu labourers,” the IG said in a statement.
Terrorists changed their strategy
The IG said, “Terrorist handlers from across the border have become frustrated due to large number of terrorist hideouts being destroyed and law and order in force. They have changed their strategy. They have killed innocent civilians, politicians and now women.” Including targeting innocent civilians and unarmed policemen from minority communities.”
The statement further said that the terrorists used pistols in all such cases. “These acts have been committed by newly recruited terrorists or people joining terrorist ranks. In some cases, overground workers have been found directly involved. J&K Police is working hard and we all such part-time/ We are identifying hybrid terrorists and strictest action will be taken against them.”
He said, “We have got many clues and we are working on them. We are also launching operations with security forces. We appeal to the general public, especially the minority communities not to panic. Let us maintain peace. Keep it and will continue to do so.”
