The Pokemon Company clarifies that Pokemon Legend: Arceus isn’t open world, instead like Monster Hunter

Kotaku recently got in touch with The Pokemon Company to clarify whether or not the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Arceus will be a fully open world like Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Rockstar Games, Red Dead Redemption 2. The Pokemon Company clarified that the upcoming Nintendo Switch game will more like the Monster Hunter series with designated areas rather than a fully realised open world game like Breath of the Wild. Here’s what The Pokemon Company told Kotaku.

The Pokémon Company has sent Kotaku a statement confirming the Monster Hunter-esque structure of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Jubilife Village will serve as the base for surveying missions. After receiving an assignment or a request and preparing for their next excursion, players will set out from the village to study one of the various open areas of the Hisui region. After they finish the survey work, players will need to return once more to prepare for their next task. We look forward to sharing more information about exploring the Hisui region soon.
